Research

Before Pinterest, young people had Tumblr. And in the company of artists, thinkers, adventurers, and more, I began this archive.

La Vie (a riff on my nickname, Lavi) went live in 2015, while I was still in high school. As a student in a small town (in which status symbols mattered more than the story), La Vie became my quiet corner of the internet. Here, beauty met discernment.

For the last 10 years, this archive has acted as a home to my visual inspiration and has become evidence of my diligently trained eye. I continue to maintain it, treating it as a retreat to my very own corner of the Internet.

Hey!

About

Hi! My name is Lavi (I hope that if you’ve come this far, you’ve caught onto that). It’s lovely to meet you!

I am based in New York City and have been for the last eight years. In many ways, New York has taught me the most important lessons of my adulthood.

In tandem with being a full-time designer, I am passively studying to become a sommelier (for those who know the exam types, I am studying for the CMS). Wine, for me, is a bridge to the thing I love most: people.

To that point, my career choices and hobbies share my love for people. I jump at the chance at using my education, skills, and curiosity to make someone’s day just 1% better.

On any given day, you’re likely to find me at a museum or a gallery. If I’m not there, I’m probably at my favourite coffee and dessert spot in New York, Lysée. And if I’m not there, then please email me and we can discuss why you’re trying to find me.

I am currently open for design work, both client-based or full-time. You can DM me on Twitter (X) or email me. If you’re curious for my answer on willingness to relocate, click here.

A note

This site is the seventh portfolio site I have shipped since beginning my career in 2018.

This iteration was designed in Figma and shipped in Cursor. All copy was written and edited by me.

This site could not have come to life without the help of two key people — Wojtek (@pugson) and Josh Puckett (@joshpuckett). Without saying too much, it takes a village and I am deeply grateful for mine.
